Prevent PCP PROJECT

The Prevent PCP (Procurements of innovative, advanced systems to support security in public transport) project is based on the results, common challenge, and synergies resulting from its predecessor – Prevent. The Public Transport Authority of Warsaw (ZTM) took part in it as a member of The User Observatory Group (UOG).

The first Prevent project lasted from May 2019 to July 2020 and resulted in the identification of commonly agreed scenarios, covering the critical security issues. The risk concerning unattended items was among them. The global aim of Prevent PCP is to augment security in public transport through innovative procurement of technology solutions. Due to the project at least two prototype solutions will be invented and tested in a pilot environment.

ZTM, like in the first Prevent project is a member of UOG. The group consists of external practitioners from outside the consortium and is supposed to assess the project’s results, concepts, and solutions. It also looks at common needs and the requirements defined by the projects to make sure the results will meet requirements of the end-users.

The project aims to deliver and equip Public Transport Operators with solutions enhancing security situational awareness through:

  1. Timely automatic detection of potentially dangerous unattended items Public Transport Infrastructure and in public areas in the vicinity.
  2. Identification and tracking of the perpetrator.
  3. Advanced crisis management system.

Prevent PCP has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 101020374. It started in September 2019 and will be conducted for 36 months till the end of August 2024.
